Malaysia’s five-time British Open Champion Nicol David has withdrawn from the 2018 event as she recovers from recurrent hamstring and adductor strains.
David was seeded #9 for this year’s event and her withdrawal has resulted in a reshuffle, with Australia’s Donna Urquhart elevated to #16 seed and now facing Egypt’s Mariam Metwally in round one.
The shuffle also means that there will be an all-USA first round match with 12th seed Olivia Blatchford meeting Amanda Sobhy, the former world #6 who is returning to action after a lengthy injury layoff.
