Round Two of the Quilter Cheviot British Open continues today at The Rep and Solihull Arden, with sixteen matches from the bottom half of the draws.
Today’s winners will progress to Round Thee – the last sixteens – which will be played over two days at The Rep.

Evening Session : Delight for Declan and Simmy at Solihull
The run of close matches continued in the evening session at Solihull Arden as Hong Kong’s Chan Sin Yuk and England’s Declan James both beat seeded opposition in five games. Chan downed 15th seed Nada Abbas – coming from match balls down 7-10 in the fourth – while James got the better of 13th seed Mohamed Abouelghar 12-10 in the fifth.
Siva Subramanian and Aly Abou Eleinen – the highest seeds in action at Solihull – also progresses, Subramanian coming from a game down to beat Lucy Turmel while Eleinen finished proceedings against Auguste Dussourd, accelerating away after a tough opening game.
At the Rep it was more straightforward for the higher seeds with Paul Coll, Joel Makin and Gina Kennedy all winning in straight games, while four-time champion Nour ElSherbini beat compatriot Hana Moataz in four close games.
Afternoon Session : Yahya edges past Dimi in thriller
The afternoon session concluded at Solihull Arden as Yahya Elnawasany came through a brutal and thrilling encounter with 14th seed Dimitri Steinmann. After the first four games were shared, Elnawasany went 10-4 up in the decider, only to see Dimi recover to 10-all and earn a match ball of his own! The Egyptian won the next two points though, to reach Round Three.
All the other matches went to seeding as fourth seeds Olivia Weaver and Karim Abdel Gawad won at The Rep, as did Marwan ElShorbagy and Satomi Watanabe, while at Solihull Nele Gilis, Marina Stefanoni and Leonel Cardenas all won in three close games
