GillenMarkets Named Title Sponsor of 2025 British Open

Dublin-based wealth management firm GillenMarkets has been named as the title sponsor of the upcoming British Open, which will return to the spectacular Birmingham Rep Theatre between May 31 – June 8, 2025.

The GillenMarkets British Open is the longest-running tournament on the PSA Squash Tour and will be held at The Rep for a third successive year since returning to Birmingham in 2023. This year’s GillenMarkets British Open will be just the second Diamond-level event to take place on the PSA Squash Tour following September’s CIB Egyptian Open.

Egyptian pair Nouran Gohar and Mostafa Asal lifted the trophies on a thrilling finals day last time out in Birmingham and are expected to return to defend their titles against the cream of global squash talent. This includes men’s World No.1 Ali Farag, women’s seven-time World Champion Nour El Sherbini and British No.1s Joel Makin and Georgina Kennedy.

“The British Open is one of the most highly-anticipated tournaments on the PSA Squash Tour calendar and GillenMarkets are an important addition to our portfolio of sponsors.”

GillenMarkets Founder Rory Gillen said: “I’ve had the pleasure of attending many British Open squash events over the years, and it’s always an incredible experience to witness the world’s top players competing at the highest level for this prestigious title.

“The PSA Squash Tour plays a vital role in showcasing the sport’s elite talent, and we firmly believe in supporting its growth and success. When the opportunity arose to become the title sponsor, we felt truly privileged to  be able to contribute to the legacy of such a historic tournament.”

96 players will compete for glory at the GillenMarkets British Open, with a qualifying event taking place at Solihull Arden Club between May 27-29 to decide eight of the entry spots. The Solihull Arden Club will also host matches across the first three days of competition, with a glass show court being erected at The Rep from June 1 onwards.
