Dr Assem Allam sadly passed away on 2nd Dec 2022 at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness.
Heading Allam Marine, he took on the British Open sponsorship in 2012 with that year being played at the O2 in London.
It then relocated to Hull, where he had lived since 1986, with the 10th edition of the Allam British Open taking place there earlier this year, eclipsing the nine editions sponsored by H-Tec ending in 1994.
A squash enthusiast as well as a supporter, all the players will remember him sitting in the front row at almost all the matches, and genially welcoming them off court at the end of their matches.
Squash has lost a great man and a great benefactor.
