Five members of Team USA are set to compete in 2019 Allam British Open – the final PSA World Tour Platinum event of the 2018-2019 season – May 20-26 at the University of Hull in Hull, England.
World No. 8 Amanda Sobhy leads a four-player contingent of American women in Hull, slotting into the draw as the tournament’s twelve seed.
After enjoying a first-round bye, Sobhy will take on either Canada’s Samantha Cornett or South Africa’s Alexandra Fuller Tuesday, May 21, at 12pm noon local time.
The winner of that second round match will progress to the round of sixteen to likely face Egypt’s world No. 1 Raneem El Welily on the glass court Wednesday, May 22.
After missing out on the recent Manchester Open due to injury, world No. 20 Olivia Blatchford Clyne returns to action with a first-round match against France’s world No. 46 Melissa Alves.
Blatchford Clyne and Alves will face off Monday at 6:30pm local time for a chance to play England’s thirteen seed Victoria Lust in the second round.
World No. 44 Olivia Fiechter is set for her British Open debut on Monday when she plays Egypt’s world No. 23 Zeina Mickawy at 1:30pm local time.
The winner will advance to the second round against Hong Kong’s eleven seed Annie Au.
World No. 45 Haley Mendez will be in search of her first British Open victory in her third straight tournament appearance.
The twenty-five-year-old will take on Egypt’s world No. 16 Yathreb Adel in their second career PSA match up Monday at 1:30pm local time.
World No. 46 Todd Harrity is the sole U.S. representative in the forty-eight-player draw. The twenty-eight year old is set to make his third appearance in just as many years at the British Open against Hong Kong’s world No. 23 Max Lee Monday, May 20, at 2:15pm local time.
Harrity and Lee have never met on the PSA World Tour, but the American did win their only previous match up at the 2017 Men’s World Team Championship.
