The quarter-finals of the British Open begin today, with Birmingham Rep playing host to four nail-biting matches this evening.
Birmingham-born Sarah-Jane Perry will hope to cause an upset in front of her home crowd when she takes on World No.1 Nouran Gohar, but she will need to end a seven-match winless run against the Egyptian if she is to do so.
World No.5 Ali Farag, runner-up at the last three editions of the British Open, has a tricky encounter with former World Champion Tarek Momen in store.
The opening match of the day will put New Zealand’s No.4 seed Joelle King up against Egypt’s No.6 seed Rowan Elaraby at 17:30 (GMT+1).
An all-Egyptian battle between former World No.1 Karim Abdel Gawad – who upset England No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy in the previous round – and No.7 seed Mazen Hesham will bring the day to a close at 20:15.
All of the action will be broadcast live on SQUASHTV, while squash fans can also stay up to date with live scores here.
